Research

Characterization is the whole discipline.

Structure

Extracellular vesicles are lipid-bilayer structures at the nanometre scale. Describing one accurately means describing its size distribution, its morphology, and the consistency of both across a population.

Method

We hold to documented, repeatable procedure. Identity, handling conditions, and chain of custody are recorded for every lot, and the record travels with the material.

Handling

Cold chain is maintained end to end. Temperature excursions are logged rather than tolerated, and any lot outside specification is withdrawn.

Access

Materials are made available to qualified researchers and licensed professionals for research use only. Qualification is confirmed before any material is released.

Origin & Standard

A biologic, held to a biologic's standard.

Source

The material originates in Wharton's jelly — the connective tissue of the umbilical cord, among the richest known sources of mesenchymal stem cells. It is allogeneic, drawn from donated umbilical cord tissue, and cell-free: what remains is the population of extracellular vesicles those cells release, isolated and characterized.

Regulated as a biologic

Most vesicle material is registered under Section 361 — a route that asks for no premarket review and no defined manufacturing standard. Ours is held to Section 351(a): regulated by the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, with a Type II Master File on record with its Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies.

Manufacturing

Every lot is produced under current Good Manufacturing Practice — 21 CFR 210/211 and the biologics-specific 600 series — in an ISO 5 cleanroom under continuous environmental monitoring, with validated processes and documented handling of any deviation.

Lot discipline

Nothing leaves without a record. Every batch is characterized and tested — including independent third-party analysis — before release, and its documentation travels with the material.

Evaluated for toxicity

The material has been evaluated in an independent animal study run with a university health-sciences center under approved institutional animal-care oversight. Over four weeks, formulations were administered across four routes at up to twenty times the reference concentration by body weight. No toxicity was observed — no behavioral change, no weight loss, no irritation — and independent third-party histopathology found no significant tissue lesions.

A Master File records how a material is made; it is not a marketing authorization, and nothing here is offered as an approved product. Research use only.
